BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Men's Basketball team continued to add to their 2023-24 recruiting class with Austin Josephson and Ryan Bohlman joining the Beavers as announced by head coach Mike Boschee.
Josephson, a 6-foot-9 center from South Ridge High School in Meadowlands, Minn., put together an impressive prep career. He recently was named First Team All-Conference in the Polar League for the second straight season. Overall, he eclipsed 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds during his high school career. In the classroom, Josephson was on Honor Roll throughout his prep career, lettered in basketball each season, earned three letters in baseball and one in football. Josephson chose BSU because of the location, family atmosphere and the culture being built with the team.
"Excited to have Austin in the program. He's a post that can score in a variety of ways, has a good feel for the game and can really pass it which is a unique skill for a big," Boschee said.
Bohlman, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Blaine High School in Blaine, Minn., was strong both on the court and in the classroom during his prep career. Bohlman averaged 18.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and shot over 46 percent from three (73-157). Bohlman lettered in academics for three seasons and also earned multiple awards for his play on the court. He lettered both his junior and senior seasons in basketball, was a captain and named All-Conference. A multi-sport athlete, Bohlman lettered four years in soccer while earning All-Conference and lettered for three seasons in golf. He also was named to the Dean's List, National Honor Society and Honor Roll. Bohlman chose BSU because he really liked the campus, the atmosphere and getting the chance to play basketball.
"Excited to have Ryan in the program. He's a big guard that can really shoot it along with the ability to get to the rim," Boschee said.
It was an impressive 2022-23 campaign for Boschee and the Beavers. Bemidji State reached 20 wins for just the third time in program history, while advancing all the way to the semifinals of the NSIC Tournament. BSU entered the NCAA Division II Central Region rankings, coming close to earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
