BEMIDJI, Minn. – Sophomore Logan Schoepp is off to a strong start to being the fall season. After tying for second following the first round, Schoepp made his move to win the individual title on Tuesday during the 72nd annual BSU Invitational at the Bemidji Town & Country Club.
Schoepp opened the tournament shooting a two-under 69 on Monday but was a shot back of the lead. He made up that ground on Tuesday coming through with a strong back-nine that featured two birdies and six pars for a two-over 73 to finish even with a 142. That was enough to hold off a push by three different golfers who all carded 143's to take home the individual title. For the tournament, Schoepp came away with six birdies and an eagle. He added 23 pars to stay consistent throughout the two days.
"It takes a whole team to be good, and they pushed me these last three weeks," Schoepp said. "I also put a new putter in play, and I knew that for me to play well, I had to come in with confidence. I felt that I continued to play with confidence with my putter."
Bemidji State had three teams competing, with the second team finishing the highest with a 590 to come in second. The first BSU team placed furth with a 594, while the third Beaver squad placed seventh with a 601. Minnesota State won the eight-team tournament with a 576 to win by 14-strokes.
While Schoepp paced the second BSU team that placed second overall, fellow sophomore Caden Lick wasn't far behind. After opening with a 73, he trimmed a couple of shots off that for an even 71 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 144 (+2) to tie for fifth. Lick had four birdies on Tuesday. Freshman Charlie Williams had a strong collegiate debut as he tied for 16th with scores of 77-72 for a 149 (+7). Williams came away with four birdies during the final round. Sophomore Cody Card posted a 155 with rounds of 76-79 (+13) to tie for 41st and senior Jack Southard rounded out the second BSU team tying for 43rd with a 156 (77-79).

Wutzke tied for seventh with rounds of 73-72 for a 145 (+3). He had four birdies and nine pars on Tuesday.
