BEMIDJI, Minn. – Senior Mollie Albrecht continued her strong start to the fall season with another seventh-place finish during the Tracy Lane Memorial that concluded on Tuesday at the Bemidji Town & Country Club.
Albrecht opened with a 78 on Monday and then after a second round 81 finished with a 159 (+15) to place seventh. She was just two shots back of fourth, three back of second and five off the top spot. Albrecht collected two birdies over the final two holes on Monday and added 19 pars, with 10 on Tuesday. This seventh-place finish comes after she opened the fall coming in seventh with a 161 at the Maverick Invitational.
As a team, Bemidji State posted rounds of 357-354 for a 711 to place sixth. North Dakota won the nine-team tournament with a 631, just one-stroke ahead of Minnesota State. UND's Emersyn Walker won the individual title with a 154 to win by two shots.
Senior Maddy Sawyer was the next one in for the Beavers with rounds of 92-88 for a 180 to finish 33rd. Sawyer posted two birdies (one in each round) and had seven pars, with six during the final round. Freshman Haylee Kammann was right behind with a 185 to tie for 36th. Kammann had rounds of 93-92. She tallied a birdie during the final round and had eight pars throughout the tournament. Freshman Elli Anderson was just a few strokes back with a 187 to tie for 40th. She had rounds of 94-93. Anderson had 10 pars, with six on Tuesday. Rounding out the five that counted for the team score was junior Savannah Byfuglien who tied for 47th with rounds of 100-99 for a 199. Byfuglien had four pars during the tournament.
The Beavers also had two compete as individuals in sophomore Isabella Depew and freshman Nakomis Mitchell. Depew tied Byfuglien for 47th with a 199 (98-101). Depew carded a pair of birdies during the tournament (one each day) and had four pars. Mitchell placed 51st with a 204 (100-104). Mitchell posted two pars during the tournament.
The Tracy Lane Memorial is held each year to honor BSU golf alumni Tracy Lane who lost her battle to cervical cancer too soon. It also serves to help increase awareness, prevent, and eliminate reproductive cancers.
Bemidji State will return to action this coming Monday and Tuesday when they will compete in the Maverick/Golden Bear Fall Brawl that will take place in Hudson, Wis., at the Troy Burne Golf Course.
