HUDSON, Wis. – The Bemidji State University Men's Golf team is tied for third following an opening round 301 at the Maverick/Golden Bear Fall Brawl at the Troy Burne Golf Course.
The Beavers are tied for third with the other Beavers from Minot State with a 301. Concordia-St. Paul leads the way with a 287 to lead by two-strokes. Concordia-St. Paul's Brandon Sperling leads on the individual side with a three-under 68 to hold a one-shot lead.
Caden Lick leads Bemidji State and is in the top 10 tied for sixth with a one-over 72. Lick was consistent with 13 pars and a birdie on hole seven. Brandon Bervig is tied for 15th with a three-over 74. He tallied 15 pars and a birdie on hole four. Koby Kuenzel holds a six-over 77 and is tied for 35th. He tallied an eagle on hole six and added two birdies. Rory Wutzke and Logan Schoepp are tied for 42nd with 78's (+7). Wutzke had a birdie on hole 15 and 11 pars. Schoepp had a birdie on hole 18 and 11 pars.
Individually, the Beavers had three competing in Charlie Williams, Tate Usher and Teagan LaPlante. Williams leads that group with a two-over 73 and is tied for 11th. Williams had a birdie on hole seven and 13 pars. Usher is tied with Bervig after an opening round 74 (+3) to tie for 15th. Usher had four birdies on the day. LaPlante is tied for 22nd with a four-over 75. He posted three birdies on the back nine.
The second and final round will begin tomorrow (Tuesday) morning with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
