BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Athletics is proud to announce that it has partnered with Family Advocacy Center of Northern Minnesota to host Teddy Bear Toss Night at the Beaver Men's Hockey series opener with Bowling Green State University Friday, Feb. 21 at Sanford Center.
 
Fans are asked to bring new and unused Teddy Bears/stuffed animals wrapped in plastic to prevent the fur from sticking onto the ice at Friday's game with all Teddy Bears/stuffed animals to be donated to the Family Advocacy Center of Northern Minnesota. All donations will then be thrown onto the ice following the Beavers' first goal against the Falcons or in the event they are held off the scoreboard, following the final horn.
 
Bemidji State Athletics recommends fans purchase new Teddy Bears/stuffed animals following Valentine's Day sales in stores this weekend (Feb. 14-15).
 
The Family Advocacy Center of Northern Minnesota (FACNM) is an abuse assessment center that offers comprehensive medical care and treatment and a coordinated victim-centered response to those who have been physically or sexually abused. The Family Advocacy Center conducts forensic evaluations with children, and their non-offending caregivers, who are alleged victims of crimes. Their team of specialized nurses, family advocates, and forensic interviewers makes sure that each child receives the full care that they deserve. All stuffed animals from the Teddy Bear Toss will be donated to children receiving services with the FACNM.
