Paschal wins Maverick Desert Classic as Beavers finish seventh

Freshman Brogan Paschal wins first collegiate invite with six-under par

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Bemidji State University Men's Golf freshman Brogan Paschal fired a six-under par 138 to win the Maverick Desert Classic Tuesday evening at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. Competing as an individual, Paschal led all golfers at the meet winning the individual title by four strokes in his first collegiate meet.
 
As a team, the Beavers finished seventh of 11 teams combining for a team score of 592 (292-300) and finished fourth among Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams at the tournament. For complete results, click here.
 
Paschal began his first collegiate tournament firing a one-under par 71 in the first round Monday. He then fired a five-under par 67 on day two, the lowest single-round score at Bemidji State since Ben Corbid and Rylin Petry each shot 67 at the second round of The Mule on April 4, 2023.
 
Junior Logan Schoepp also posted a top-five finish shooting a one-under par 143 (71-72) toe tie for fifth while Jack Southard (72-73) and Teagan Laplante (70-75) each posted top-20 finishes.
 
Schoepp led the Beavers' in team scoring while Southard, Tate Usher (75-77), Koby Kuenzel (74-81) and Ryan Cullen (78-78) combined for the Beavers team score of 592 that finished seventh in the tournament. The Beavers' "B" team of Paschal, Laplante, Tanner Wanous (76-76), Charlie Williams (80-76) and Ryan Nelson (77-81) finished with the fifth lowest team score shooting 588 (294-294).
 
The Beavers will now prepare for the NSIC Preview tournament at the Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Mo., Mar. 24-25.
