BSU earns 10th in NSIC Women’s Golf Preseason Coaches Poll

Senior Haylee Kammann named Athlete to Watch

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Women's Golf has taken the 10th spot in this year's Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Women's Golf Coaches' Poll.

"We are returning a solid core of players that has a lot of experience competing at the highest level, each able to take steps individually that have helped raise the expectations for team success," said Head Coach Erica Gartner. "With our new additions, I'm excited to see how we can build upon recent success and continue to take steps forward as the year goes on."

Haylee Kammann, a senior from Elk River, Minn., was named the Beavers' Preseason Athlete to Watch after tying for 15th in the NSIC last year. Kammann averaged a score of 84.7 in her junior campaign.

"Haylee has continued to improve each year and finished last season with a strong showing at conference tournament," said Gartner. "She has all the tools to consistently score low and I look forward to seeing her put all the pieces together to finish her career on a high note."

The defending NSIC Women's Golf Champions from Wayne State College were picked to win the league in the preseason women's golf coaches' poll. This marks the first time the Wildcats have been selected as preseason favorites. Wayne State received 11 first place votes (coaches cannot vote for their own team) and tallied 178 points, 21 points ahead of second place Minnesota State. The Mavericks amassed 157 points and the other three first place votes.

Concordia-St. Paul sophomore Addi Wood was voted by the league coaches as the preseason golfer of the year. Wood is the reigning NSIC Player and Newcomer of the Year after finishing second at the NSIC Championships.

The three-round NSIC Women's Golf Championship will take place next spring on April 16-18 at Adams Pointe Golf Complex in Blue Springs, Missouri.
