BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Golf team closed out play at The Jewel Invitational with a ninth-place finish in a 12-team field September 21-22 at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn.
The Beavers shaved 14 strokes off their opening-round score and finished the 36-hole tournament with a team score of 676. BSU carded a first-round 345 before posting a 331 in the final round to move ahead of Minot State University and finish ninth overall. Junior
Lauren Kammann paced the Beavers and tied for 16th overall after firing a career-low 157 (79-78). Her second-round score of 78 was the lowest of her collegiate career.
Augustana University claimed the team title with a two-round score of 610, while University of Sioux Falls placed second at 615 and Concordia University-St. Paul finished third at 633.
Sara Sroga tied for 42nd after posting 171 (+27) tournament to finish second on the team. Sroga shot rounds of 87 and 84, while
Haylee Kammann trailed by one stroke after recording rounds of 88 and 84, helping lead the Beavers' strong second-round improvement.
Eleanor Carlson finished tied for 48th with a two-round score of 176 (+32), carding rounds of 91 and 85.
Bailey Tilley rounded out the team scoring lineup in 53rd place after shooting 91 and 89 for a total of 180 (+36).
Competing as an individual,
Nakomis Mitchell finished 70th overall with rounds of 105 and 99 to post a 204 (+60).
The tournament medalist was Addi Wood of Concordia-St. Paul, who captured individual honors with a two-round score of 146 after rounds of 72 and 74. Winona State's Megan Young placed second at 148, while Augustana's Carmen Jirele finished third with a 149.
Bemidji State will continue its fall schedule at the Battle in the North tournament held at Beowulf Golf Club in Minot, N.D., Oct. 5-6.
