BEMIDJI, Minn. - After picking up a 7-2 win in Saturday’s
match against Minnesota State, Mankato, the Bemidji State
tennis team dropped Sunday’s contest 7-2 to St. Cloud
State at the Gillett Recreation and Fitness Center. The Beavers
victories came at number three doubles and number two singles.
BSU’s duo of Angie Harrison and Breck Rolfsrud tallied
the Beavers lone doubles point with a 8-6 triumph over Kelley
Severson and Jenna Vogel. SCSU’s Sara Eull and Coutney
Hover topped BSU’s top duo of Holly Gilbertson and Thea
Kinney, 8-1, while Alyssa Lauritsen and Jodi Pease defeated
Nikki Baird and Sherry Kuzel, 8-3.
In singles play, frosh Breck Rolfsrud gained the Beavers only
point at number with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Hover. The Huskies
secured two-set victories at number one and three through
six.
With the loss, BSU moves to 1-1 on the season, while St. Cloud
State improves to 7-1. The Beavers will compete in the five-team
University of North Dakota Invite on Saturday, Feb. 28. BSU
will play four matches, starting at 9:00 a.m.
