Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Bemidji State University tennis team was defeated 9-0 Friday y the University of North Dakota in nonconference play at the Gillett Recreation/Fitness Center. The Fighting Sioux dominated the Beavers at virtually every position winning all six singles and each of the three doubles matches for a 9-0 sweep.

The Sioux pairs of Erin Sullivan/Shauna Differding and Lindsey Folkert/Hana Bloomberg handily defeated thier BSU counterparts 8-0 and 8-2 respectivly, but the team of Danielle Pesch and Chalyse Wynne were pushed to a tie-breaker by BSU's Sarah Berg (Bemidji, Minn.) and Emily Berg (Red Wing, Minn.) at the No. 3 doubles post before gaining a third point for UND with a 9-8 (7-5) victory.

In singles play each of UND's top four singles player gained straight-set wins over BSU, the No. 5 and 6 singles matches were another story though. At No. 5, BSU's Kristen Lexcen (Coon Rapids, Minn.) was in position to win each set, pushing each set to a tie-breaker before losing the match to Pesch 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-4). BSU's Holly Gilbertson (Litchfield, Minn.) took the first set over Wynne in the No. 6 position 2-6 before dropping the second 6-0 and losing the match in a 10-6 tie-breaker.

On an already limited roster, the Beavers were without the services of two of thier key student-athletes. Angie Harrison (Virginia, Minn.) and Emily Foster (Bemidji, Minn.) sat out of Friday’s match due to injuries. Harrison, a BSU regular at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles, has been out of action since she suffered an ankle injury March 6th versus MSU-Moorhead while Foster will missed her first match of the season.

The Beavers are 4-10 overall and have posted a 2-1 mark in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. The team will be back in action April 2 when it travles to St. Cloud, Minn. to battle St. Ben's, St. Cloud State and St. Scholastica in a trio of five-point matches.
