Augustana hands BSU its 11th loss of 2006

Box Score SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - [box score] Despite a number of hard-fought matches that were played into tie-breakers, the Bemidji State University tennis team dropped its 11th match of the 2006 campaign, 7-2, to Augustan College Sunday in Sioux Falls, S.D.

At both No. 4 and No. 6 singles, Bemidji State took early leads as Julie Kapsner (Pierz, Minn.) topped USD's Lindsey Agnitsch 6-4 in the first set at No. 4 while Amy Erickson (Roseau, Minn.) took the first set from Jessie Mootz (USD) 6-2 in the sixth spot. But in both cases, The coyotes players battled back to take the second set and defeated the Beavers in the super tie-break.

In doubles competition, BSU also held its own.

Kapsner and Kristen Lexcen (Coon Rapids, Minn.) gave the Beavers their best opportunity to steal a point. The USD pair of Katie Bohl and Megan Felder edged the BSU duet our 8-5 in the No. 2 spot.

Bemidji State falls to 1-11 on the season. The team returns to action April 19th when they host Concordia College of Moorhead in a non-conference duel. The match is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start at the BSU tennis courts.
