Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. - Bemidji states women's tennis team lost its opening
contest of the 2007 season to regional foe University of Minnesota
Duluth Sunday at the Gillett Recreation and Fitness Center by a score
of 8-1.
No. 4 singles player, sophomore Julie
Kapsner (Pierz, Minn.) was a bright spot for the Beavers as she easily
defeated the Bulldogs’ Andrea Mack by scores of 6-0, 6-2. However
Kapsner’s second career win would prove to be the only one the
the Beavers could mustard against the Bulldogs.

2 singles player Kali Welu (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) and No. 5 singles
player Amy Erickson (Roseau, Minn.) both were able to take three games
from thier two sets against Stacy Schulz and Stephanie Keller but lost
their matches 1-6, 2-6 and 2-6, 1-6 respectively.
Doubles
proved to be just as tough for the Beavers as the no. 1 doubles team of
Welu and Shelia Hoberg (Bismarck, N.D.) played competitvely against
Anna Hockett and Schulz of Duluth, but were defeated 4-8 by the Bulldog
tandem.
The Beavers now move to 0-1 (0-0 NSIC)
on the season and are next scheduled for action on the third of March
against the University of North Dakota at the Gillett Recreation and
Fitness center with the contest scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
