SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -
Jamie Ford
(Jr., Edina, Minn.) scored her 11th goal of the season with 1:31 to
play in the second overtime to lead the Bemidji State Universty soccer
team to a 1-0 win over Augustana College Sunday afternoon in Sioux
Falls, S.D.

Sunday’s game was an extremely hard struggle for both teams. There was intensity and aggressiveness on every play.
After
two back and forth halves, the Beavers and Vikings were notted and 0-0.
AC led the way in shots, taking 21 to BSU’s 10, but the two
Bemidji State goalkeepers had phenomenal performances. By the end of

Augustana
pressured Bemidji State for the majority of the second overtime, but
then the team finally got a legitimate chance at scoring a goal.
Ford received a ball and dribbled up field before making a pass to Ashlee Ellefsen
(So., Hugo, Minn.). Ellefsen sent a through ball along the left side
near the end line back to Ford who was overlapping on the play. She
sent a pass into the box, but she mishit it and it went over the
keeper’s head into the back of the net for her second
game-winning goal in as many games.
BSU goalkeeper Samantha Ross (So., Stillwater, Minn.) played the first 45 minutes, making seven saves. Abby Kjonaas
(Fr., Fargo, N.D.) came in on relief duty, playing 63:29 minutes and
making a career-high 11 saves, taking the win. She moved to 2-0-0 for
her career.
Ellefsen ended the season with
31 points, and Ford ended the year with 27. The combined 58 points is
the most by a BSU tandem in school history, surpassing the previous
high of 57 by Katie Meinhardt and Whitney Sengthao (2004).
Ellefsen
also notched her seventh assist of the year, which ties the school
record for most in a season, and her 31 points is third in a single
season in school history.
Ford’s 11
goals this season are tied for fifth-most in a single season, and her
27 points are fifth-most in a single year.
