BEMIDJI, Minn. (Gillett Recreation/Fitness Center) -- The Bemidji State University tennis team dropped a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) match Minnesota State University, Mankato, 8-1, Sunday at Gillett Recreation/Fitness Center.

Bemidji State’s No. 2 doubles team of Kelli Christiansen (So., Bemidji, Minn.) and Kara Johnson (Jr., Andover, Minn.) supplied the Beavers with a team point, defeating the MSU team of Heather Jensen and Paige Burke 9-8 after a doubles tie break, 7-4.  The point kept the Beavers within striking distance heading into singles play trailing, 2-1.

The Mavericks extended their lead in singles play earning straight-set victories at each of the six singles positions to take the match, 8-1.

The Beavers, now 2-6 overall and 2-3 versus NSIC competition, will keep its focus on league play traveling to St. Cloud State University and  University of Minnesota Duluth Mar. 26-28.  The Beavers face SCSU at 6 p.m. Friday evening and will make the trip to Duluth, Minn. to battle UMD at 8 a.m. Sunday.
