SARTELL, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University tennis team fell to St. Cloud State University Friday, 9-0, in Northern Sun Intercollegiate competition at Gold’s Gym in Sartell, Minn.  

The Huskies opened the match with three straight wins in doubles competition to take a 3-0 lead into singles play.  The pair of Jacqus Doll and Kelly Freese dropped BSU’s Farrah Steinke (Sr., Crosby, Minn.) and Lindsey Luberda (Sr., Champlin, Minn.) at No. 1 doubles, 8-2, while Beaver teams of Kelli Christiansen (So., Bemidji, Minn.)/Kara Johnson (Jr., Andover, Minn.) and Cheyanne Maki (Sr., Watford City, N.D.)/Miranda Milless (So., Motley, Minn.) dropped 8-3 matches at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots.

SCSU’s singles players picked up right where its doubles teams left off earning straight-set victories in all six singles matches to cruise to their seventh consecutive team victory.

The Beavers, now 2-7 overall and 2-4 in NSIC action, continue their busy weekend on the road with a nonconference match versus University of Minnesota-Morris tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. before wrapping up the road trip with an 8 a.m. match at University of Minnesota Duluth.
