ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Bemidji State University tennis team wrapped up the 2011 campaign with a pair of 9-0 losses to Winona State University and Minnesota State University in Aberdeen, S.D. on Saturday night. BSU finished the season with a 3-12 (2-9 NSIC) mark.
The Beavers ended the day 0-3 after falling to Northern State University 6-3 in a morning match in Aberdeen. Against the Warriors, the match started out with three losses in doubles for BSU. Kara Johnson (Sr., Anoka, Minn.) and Kelli Christiansen (Jr., Bemidji, Minn.) fell 8-1 at No. 1 doubles to Heather Pierce and Leah Dahl.
At the No. 2 slot, Miranda Milless (Jr., Motley, Minn.) and Meg Hafdahl (So., Virginia, Minn.) fell at the hands of Jessica Urban and Laura Lindstrand, 8-2.
At No. 3 doubles, Britney Greenwaldt (Jr., Morris, Minn.) and Katherine Wolak (Jr., Geneseo, Ill.) dropped a match to Adie Adler and Laura Roesslein 8-2.
In singles, Johnson fell in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 to Pierce at the No. 1 slot.
At No. 2 singles, Greenwaldt was upended by Dahl, 6-0, 6-0.
At the No. 3 slot, Christiansen fell to Urbam 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 4 singles, Milless was defeated by Amanda Asche, 6-0, 6-2.
At the No. 5 slot, Hafdahl was upended by Lindstrand 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 6 singles, Wolak was defeated by Winona State's Andrea Krueger 6-0, 6-1.
Against the Mavericks on Minnesota State Univeristy, Mankato, the Beavers started out the match again by losing three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, Johnson and Christiansen fell to Sarah Madigan and Kat Gavin 8-1. Johnson and Christiansen wrap up the 2011 campaign with a 2-13 doubles mark.
At No. 2 doubles, Milless and Hafdahl fell to Heather Jensen and Tegan Bakke 8-3. Milless and Hafdahl wrap up the season with an overall mark of 4-8 overall.
At No. 3 doubles, Wolak and Greenwaldt were upended by Brandi Dohman and Danni Collins 9-8. Wolak and Greenwaldt finish the season with a 7-6 overall doubles record.
In singles, Johnson fell to Minnesota State's Madigan 6-3, 6-1. Johnson, the lone senior on a young BSU squad under first-year head coach Beth Campus, wraps up her career with a 1-14 singles mark as a senior.
At No. 2 singles, Christiansen fell to Gavin, 6-1, 6-1. Christiansen went 4-10 at No. 3 singles and 0-1 at No. 2 singles as a junior.
At the No. 3 slot, Milless was upended by Jensen 6-0, 6-0. Milless finishes up the season with a 1-12 mark at No. 4 singles and an 0-1 record at the No. 3 spot.
At No. 4 singles, Wolak fell to Dohman 6-0, 6-0. The BSU junior wraps up the season with a 5-7 mark at No. 6 singles, 1-1 mark at No. 5 singles and 0-1 record at No. 4 slot.
At No. 5 singles, Hafdahl fell to Bakke 6-0, 6-1. Hafdahl went 5-8 as a sophomore at No. 5 singles and 0-1 at the No. 4 slot.
At No. 6 singles, Jenae Anderson (Fr., Little Falls, Minn.) fell at the hands of Hailey Robb 7-6, 6-0. Anderson finishes her freshman season with an 0-3 record at the No. 6 slot.
BSU will return four juniors, two sophomore and two freshman to the roster next season with Johnson as the only senior on Campus' squad.
