Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. (Chet Anderson Stadium) -- The Bemidji State University soccer team out shot Concordia-University-St. Paul 23-11 Sunday, but were unable to find the back of the net, dropping the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match, 1-0.
The Beavers hit the crossbar three times in the match, but were unable to get the bounce they needed and the Golden Bears handed BSU its third loss of the season and second in league play.
Goalkeeper Anna Fobbe stopped four of the five shots that she faced, but the first-half goal she allowed would be the difference in the match for the hard luck Beavers.
The Golden Bears caught the Beavers on their heels during the first ten minutes, setting the tone for the match.
CSP was rewarded for its offensive pressure in the 18th minute and would take a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
Concordia-St. Paul opened the second half with the same offensive dominance it did in the first, but the Beavers would begin to turn the tide. BSU out shot CSP 13-0 in the second half with a 7-0 edge in shots on goal. Three of those shots, including two within the final 15 minutes bounced off the post, while two other point-blank shots went just wide of the net leaving the Beavers trailing by a goal as time expired.
Bemidji State, now 7-3 overall and 5-2 in NSIC play, will host Northern State University at 3 p.m. Friday at Chet Anderson Stadium.
