FARGO, N.D (Courts Plus Tennis Facility) – The Bemidji State University tennis team dropped a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match up with Minnesota State University Moorhead, 7-2, Saturday at Courts Plus Tennis Facility in Fargo, N.D.

MSU Moorhead opened up a 3-0 lead in doubles play. The Dragons’ No. 3 singles pair opened the match with an 8-3 win over Breann Walsh and Jackie Damberg. To finish the sweep, MSUM took a match over Hannah Alme and Brooke Mimmack, 8-3, in the No. 2 slot before BSU’s No. 1 pair of Zoë Lundgren and Ariadna Lopez-Simo, 8-4.

Alme attempted to spark a BSU rally as singles play got underway battling back from a 6-1 loss in the first set to win the second set 6-0 and a tiebreaker 10-8. However, MSU Moorhead won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, over Lundgren and Lopez-Simo, respectively, to take a 5-1 lead and put the match out of reach for the Beavers. Before the match came to an end, Mimmack won her No. 4 singles match 5-7, 6-1, 10-8.

The Beavers, now 6-4 overall, drop to 4-4 in NSIC play. BSU returns to action tomorrow at 9 a.m. when it will face the University of Mary in a neutral-site conference match. The match will again be played at Courts Plus Tennis Facility in Fargo, N.D.
