MANKATO, Minn. – Highlighted by qualifying marks from both Alaina Hall and Lexi Erickson, the Bemidji State University Women's Track and Field team opened the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday. Hall also reached a provisional time in the 60-meter.
Hall posted a provisional and qualifying time of 7.66 in the 60-meter to advance to Sunday's final. She finished seventh in the prelims. Hall also competed in the 200-meter and the long jump. She reached a season-best jump with a distance of 17-08.75 in the long jump to place 13th. She then ran to a time of 26.85 in the 200-meter prelim to finish 23rd.
Erickson collected the big Q in the 800-meter when she crossed with a time of 2:18.37 to advance to Sunday's final. She finished second overall in the prelims. Maggie McCarthy ran to a new season-best time in the event when she crossed at 2:26.36 to place 13th.
Abby Syverson reached a personal-best time in the 600-meter when she crossed at 1:38.85. She came in ninth to finish just one spot out of the final qualifying position.
A trio of Beavers competed in the pole vault. Megan Judge and Anastasia Klein tied for 10th clearing a height of 10-08.25. Olivia Olson hit a mark of 10-02.50 to come in 16th.
Mikenna Pattrin competed in the weight throw hitting a distance of 50-07.50 to place 16th.
Rounding out the opening day for the Beavers was the distance medley relay. Erickson, Syverson, Natalie Fultz and Mary Goodwin combined to come in fifth to tally four points for Bemidji State with a time of 12:09.38. That time will be adjusted based on the conversion rate of the track size. The Beavers should set a new program record time that currently sits at 12:03.88 from earlier this season.
Day two of the NSIC Indoor Championships will take place Sunday starting at 9 a.m. Fultz will compete right away in the pentathlon.
