Beavers finish NSIC Outdoor Championships with more solid results

Doss reaches finals in discus, Pattrin advances to finals in javelin on Saturday

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Track and Field team closed out the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday with more solid results. Tierra Doss and Mikenna Pattrin each advanced to the finals in their events at Sea Foam Stadium in St. Paul, Minn.

As a team, Bemidji State tallied 22 points to place 11th. Minnesota State cruised to the team title with 272.4 points, besting Augustana in second-place with 95 points.

Doss followed-up her All-NSIC honors in the shot put from Friday right into the discus on Saturday. Doss hit a new season-best distance in the event at 142-5 to place fifth. It was a big jump in the standings for Doss as she entered 12th in the rankings from the regular season and then advanced to the finals before placing fifth.

Pattrin also advanced to the finals in the javelin. Pattrin was close to her personal-best distance in the event with a throw of 111-2 that was good for eighth-place. Pattrin was near her seeding coming in as she was tied for 10th in the event from the regular season rankings.

Zayda Priebe made a push to advance to the finals in the discus with a new PR distance of 129-4 to place 12th. Alyssa Hill saved her best performance for last in the discus as well when she hit a new PR of 121-7 to come in 16th. Cassidy Schmidt also competed in the discus placing 30th with a throw of 98-00.

Lily Johnson reached a new personal-best in the javelin hitting a mark of 93-7 to place 18th. Amanda Smith was just a few places back in 20th with a throw of 90-6.

Lexi Erickson put together a strong race in the 1,500-meter final. Erickson was close to her PR in the event coming in ninth with a time of 4:39.19.

The 4x400 relay team of Natalie Fultz, Abby Syverson, Johnson and Erickson hit a new season-best time of 3:59.40 to place sixth.

The 4x100 relay team of Olivia Olson, Abbie Disbrow, Fultz and Syverson were close to their season-best time coming in at 49.54 to place 12th.

Bemidji State will now wait to see if any of their student-athletes will be selected to compete in the NCAA Division II National Championships that will take place May 25-27 in Pueblo, Colo. The NCAA will announce the outdoor track and field participants this coming Tuesday, May 16.
