BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University freshman
Maggie Kramer has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week announced by the league Monday afternoon.
Â
Kramer earns the award for the first time in her career after helping the Beavers to back-to-back shutouts on the road at Northern State University and Minnesota State University, Moorhead. She logged 154 minutes on the pitch over the weekend including all 90 minutes in Friday's 1-0 win at Northern State.
Â
Kramer then played 64 minutes in Sunday's match at MSU Moorhead where she earned her second career assist on the Beavers' second goal in their 2-0 victory. At centerback, she anchored the Beavers' defense that allowed just three shots on goal over the two matches.
Â
The St. Michael, Minn., native is the first freshman at BSU to be named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week since Tiffany VanHaaften on Sept. 21, 2009.
