GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Bemidji State University Tennis team starts the new spring season facing Minnesota Crookston this Saturday at 12 p.m. in non-conference play in Grand Forks.
Bemidji State will get one non-conference match in before opening Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play next Friday, Feb. 16 against St. Cloud State in Grand Forks.
BSU returns Laura Burger who won three singles matches and four doubles matches a season ago. Isabela Nelson and Emilia Sand also return having each won both a singles and doubles match a year ago. Sophie Groen is back for her senior season after missing last year. The former All-NSIC Conference performer was nine matches both in singles and doubles in 2022.
In addition to Groen and Nelson back for their senior years, Daniela Chulia will play her final season with the Beavers. Chulia arrives from Merida, Venezuela. Burger and Sand with both be back as sophomores this year, along with Macy Goochey who stays in state from Park Rapids, Minn. BSU then has four freshmen for this season in Kate Taylor, Reagan Schwartzer, Valesca Rodriguez and Ana Lucia Ibanez.
