Cross Country gears up for NSIC Championships

Beavers to race in NSIC Championships, held in Wayne, Neb.

WAYNE, Neb. – Bemidji State University Cross Country travels to Wayne, Neb. this Friday to take part in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships, hosted by Wayne State College. The Beavers will compete in the 6,000-meter race starting at noon.

BSU has found itself in the middle of the pack in two of its three regular-season races. Senior Maggie McCarthy has consistently been the top performer for the Beavers this season, setting a personal best at the Augie Twilight 5K in early September, followed by two top-25 finishes at the Roy Griak Invite and Jimmie Invite. Last season, McCarthy found her 6K best at this same race, a 22:11.9 time she'll push to beat Friday afternoon. Freshman Jazzlyn Hanenberger has also rose to the top of the Beavers' lineup, consistently setting personal bests in the 6K over the last couple of races. She'll look to beat her best time of 24:41.2 which was set on Oct. 3 at the Jimmie Invite.
