BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Cross Country senior
Maggie McCarthy has become the sixth Beaver, all time, to be named an All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference selection, the first since 2007.
McCarthy finished the NSIC Cross Country Championship 6,000-meter race last Friday at a time of 22:52.70. Though the time didn't beat her personal best of 22:11.9, set last year at the same race which landed her in 25
th, the senior earned her all-conference nod with a finish in 20
th. The top ten finishers are named All-NSIC First Team while finishers 11-20 earn All-NSIC Second Team honors.
The first Beaver to earn All-NSIC honors since 2007, McCarthy now joins a short list with five others that wore the Green & White. Kandi Brick was the first to earn All-NSIC honors in 1997, then again in 1998, while the most recent honoree was Stacy Letourneau in 2007.
The Beavers now look to the NCAA Central Regional in Joplin, Mo. on Nov. 8. This race will take place at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course. If any Beavers finish high on the lineup at the regional race, the NCAA Cross Country Championship selections will come out Nov. 10 with the race on Nov. 22 in Kenosha, Wis.
