BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Tennis team begins Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play this weekend and travels to Virginia, Minn, to face University of Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State University Feb. 22-23.

The Beavers begin the weekend Saturday with a match against the Bulldogs looking to rebound from a 3-4 defeat in their previous match played on Feb. 8. BSU will then face the Huskies of St. Cloud State Sunday for its first and only meeting of the season with the Huskies. BSU battles the Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and then the Huskies at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Senior
Sophie Groen leads the Beavers playing at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles with freshman
Mia Leshem. Groen is 2-1 to start the season in singles play while the combo has teamed up for a 2-0 record in doubles play. Leshem is 2-0 this season playing at No. 2 singles and is fresh-off earning NSIC Player of the Week on Feb. 10.

Sophomores
Valesca Rodriguez and Ana Lucia Ibanez have swapped between No. 3 and No. 4 singles while
Julia Lindseth and
Lauren Rutten have each played at No. 5. Lindseth,
Britney Schommer and
Reagan Schwartzer have each played at No. 6 singles this season.

Behind Groen and Leshem, Ibanez and Rodriguez have played all four matches as a doubles team and are 1-3 this season while head coach
Kyle Fodness has mixed pairings of Schwartzer, Halverson, Lindseth and Rutten.
