BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Tennis team takes a break from Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action this weekend and hosts University of Minnesota-Morris for a non-conference match Friday, Feb. 28 at Gillett Wellness Center.
The Beavers are looking to continue their winning ways after opening conference play with victories over University of Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State University. BSU is 3-3 (2-0 NSIC) heading into Friday's match.
Fifth-year senior
Sophie Groen leads the Beavers at No. 1 singles and is 4-1 to start the season while freshman
Mia Leshem has had a great start to her collegiate career going 4-0 in her first four matches at No. 2 singles for the Beavers. The two have also paired up at No. 1 doubles for BSU and are 3-0 when paired together.
They are followed by
Valesca Rodriguez who is 2-2 at the No. 3 spot while Ana Lucia Ibanez is 0-4 at No. 4.
Lauren Rutten is 3-1 playing at No. 5 while
Julia Lindseth is 1-3 in the Beavers' final singles spot.
Rodriguez and Ibanez are 2-2 when paired together at No. 2 doubles while Lindseth and Rutten have seen the most action at No. 3 doubles and are 0-3.
The Cougars travel to Bemidji with a 1-1 season record and have yet to face a UMAC opponent.
