BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Tennis team hosts its final matches of the 2025 season this weekend by hosting Minnesota State University, Mankato and Winona State University Friday and Saturday, respectively, at the Gillett Wellness Center in Bemidji, Minn.
The Beavers (6-6, 2-3 NSIC) kick-off the weekend by hosting the Mavericks (8-2, 5-1 NSIC) Friday, April 4 at 5:00 p.m., followed by the Warriors (4-9, 2-5 NSIC) Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
The weekend's matches are key for the Beavers as they eye Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament seeding and sit just one spot out of qualifying for the postseason tournament for the first time since 2021. The Beavers currently sit seventh in the standings with a 2-3 record, just one spot back of sixth seed Minnesota State University, Moorhead (3-2 NSIC).
Graduate senior
Sophie Groen leads the Beavers at No. 1 singles and is 6-4 on the season. She is followed by freshman
Mia Leshem in the No. 2 spot who is 6-2 and 7-2 overall. In conference play, Leshem is 3-2 in singles action, the second-best record at No. 2 in the NSIC.
Valesca Rodriguez has played eight matches at No. 3 singles and is 3-5 and 6-6 overall. Ana Lucia Ibanez is 1-7 at No. 4 and 4-8 overall while
Lauren Rutten is 4-4 at No. 5, 7-5 overall and
Julia Lindseth is 2-6 at No. 6, 4-7 overall.
Groen and Leshem have teamed up at No. 1 doubles and are 8-2 on the season and 3-2 in NSIC play. Their 3-2 record in conference doubles play ranks second in the NSIC. Rodriguez and Ibanez have played eight matches at No. 2 doubles and are 2-6 and 1-3 in the NSIC while Lindseth and Rutten have teamed up for six matches at No. 3 doubles and are 1-5 and 0-4 against league competition.
