HUDSON, Wis. – The Bemidji State University Men's Golf team started the fall with a strong performance finishing third at the Maverick Fall Brawl held September 14-15 at the Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, Wis. The Beavers improved by 17 strokes in the final round, carding scores of 308 and 291 to finish with a 36-hole total of 599 (+31).
 
University of Mary claimed the team title with a score of 590 (+22), while Concordia University-St. Paul finished second at 592 (+24).
 
Leading the way for the Beavers was freshman Myles Jorde, who finished tied for second overall after firing rounds of 73 and 70 for a two-round score of 143 (+1). Jorde's second-round 70 matched the lowest round by a Beaver during the tournament and left him just two strokes behind individual medalist Brennan Weckwerth of Concordia-St. Paul.
 
Gavin Dahle also delivered a strong final round, rebounding from an opening-round 81 with a tournament-best 70 on Tuesday to finish tied for 17th with a 151 (+9).
 
Teagan Laplante added a 152 (+10) to tie for 21st, while Charlie Williams tied for 26th at 154 (+12). Competing as an individual, Riley McGovern carded rounds of 81 and 72 to finish tied for 24th with a 153 (+11). Jack Hagberg rounded out the Beaver lineup at 161 (+19).
 
The Beavers' second-round team score of 291 was the third-lowest round recorded by any team in the tournament and helped BSU climb into a third-place finish.
 
Bemidji State returns to action Sept. 21-22 when it competes at The Jewel Invitational in Lake City, Minn., at the Jewel Golf Club.
