>>BEMIDJI, Minn. (Gillett Wellness Center) -- The University of Sioux Falls handed the Bemidji State University Tennis Team its first home loss since Feb. 21, 2016 Saturday afternoon, posting a 4-1 victory over the Beavers in Northern Sun Intercollegiate play.

The Cougars earned the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead.

USF recorded wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 double positions. BSU's pair of Hannah Alme and Hannah Peterson dropped their match at No. 3 doubles, 7-5. BSU countered with a win by Brooke Mimmack and Breann Walsh in a tie-break at No. 2 singles, 7-6 (7-3). With doubles hanging in the balance BSU's Zoë Lindgren and Ariadna Lopez-Simo battled back to push a superset tie-break, but were defeated 7-6 (7-4).

In singles play, Alme posted BSU's lone point with a straight-set, 6-4, 6-1 victory in the No. 3 slot.

The Cougars got wins at No. 1, 2 and 5 singles to take the match with their fourth point, leaving No. 4 and No. 6 singles matches unnecessary to finish.

The Beavers now 4-3 overall and 1-2 in NSIC play will be back in action tomorrow when they host defending league champion Augustana University.  The Beaver and Vikings are slated or a 1 p.m. first serve at the Gillett Wellness Center.
