Box Score WINONA, Minn. -- Senior Hannah Peterson picked up a win in singles play and teamed up with Isabela Nelson to earn a doubles victory to lead the Bemidji State University tennis team to a 5-2 victory over Upper Iowa University Saturday in Winona, Minn.
The Beavers improved to 3-3 on the season and will face Winona State University in NSIC play Sunday at noon.
BSU opened the match claiming the doubles point. Sophie Groen and Shaelyn Johnson improved to 5-0 on the season at the No. 1 doubles spot with a 6-1 victory Saturday. Peterson and Nelson clinched the doubles point with their 6-4 victory in the No. 3 doubles match.
The Beavers momentum continued into singles play winning three of the four singles matches to clinch the match victory. Peterson earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles, Laney Rutkowski won in straight sets in the No. 5 singles position and in the No. 6 singles match, Maggie Richardson posted a 6-1, 6-2 win. In addition, Claudie Billand won the No. 3 singles match.
