Beavers set five meet records Saturday at St. John's Open

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (Clemens Stadium) -- Bemidji State University outdoor track & field broke five meet records Saturday at the St. John's Open in Collegeville, Minn. Sophomore Mary Goodwin broke the Beavers 3000-meter steeplechase record for the second straight week to help the team to a first-place finish among 10 teams.

Goodwin opened the outdoor season with her second straight 3000m steeplechase record, this instance with a first-place time of 11:31.69. The time also broke the meet record as she now owns the top three times and five of the top 10 at BSU all-time in the event.

BSU's four additional meet records included first place finishes from senior Maryse Mbenoun in the 400m dash (58.99), senior Ryne Prigge in the 800m run (2:19.69), senior Analise Fabre in the triple jump (37-03.35) and the 4x100m relay team of Janice Cole, Alaina Hall, Beatrice Kjelland and Kendra Ekereke (48.79).

Fabre's meet record in the triple jump also ranks third all-time at BSU in the event. Junior Tierra Doss placed herself among the top 10 all-time at BSU in the discus with a second-place throw of 43-11.75.

In addition to BSU's five record breakers, the Beavers added event wins from sophomore Alaina Hall in the 100m dash (12.55) and 200m dash (25.69), Doss in the shot put (43-11.75) and Fabre in the long jump (17-04.75).

In total, the Beavers totaled 20 personal record marks.

BSU will continue competition at 12:50 p.m. Sunday in Collegeville, Minn., as the three heptathletes of Emily Curtice, Natalie Fultz and Aneesa Tucker complete the final three events of the heptathlon. Through the first four events, Curtice is second with 2,494 points, Tucker is fourth with 2,399 and Fultz is eighth with 1,969.
