LOS ANGELES, Calif./WINONA, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Track and Field team stayed busy competing in both California and Minnesota this past week. In California competing at Bryan Clay and Cal State LA Twilight, Mary Goodwin and Lexi Erickson each set program records, while Tierra Doss hit a provisional mark. The Beavers then closed the week in Minnesota at Saint Mary's coming away with seven top-three finishes.
Goodwin continued to add to her program record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Goodwin posted a time of 10:57.96 which is also a provisional time. She placed 90th overall in a loaded field at Bryan Clay that featured multiple Division I entries.
Goodwin and Erickson then both set program records in the 1,500-meter at Bryan Clay. Erickson collected a top-20 finish in a competitive field coming in with a time of 4:38.65 to place 17th. Goodwin was just a few seconds back crossing with a time of 4:40.67 to come in 31st.
Doss closed the California trip in the shot put at Bryan Clay hitting a new personal-best and provisional in the event. Competing in a field that featured several Division I athletes and over 40 participants, Doss had a big PR with a mark of 46-0.75 to come in seventh.
Doss hit a new season-best in the discus reaching a distance of 132-5 to come in eighth at the Cal State LA Twilight. She also entered in the shot put hitting a mark of 42-9.5 to place third.
Natalie Fultz competed in both the 400-meter hurdles and the high jump. She posted a time of 1:08.03 in the hurdles to come in third and then cleared a height of 4-11 to tie for third in the high jump. Later in the week, Fultz competed again in the 400-meter hurdles at Bryan Clay and hit a new personal-best with a time of 1:04.79 to come in 51st.
Erickson entered in the 800-meter and the high jump. She posted a time of 2:21.35 in the 800 to come in fourth and then also cleared the same height as Fultz of 4-11 in the high jump to tie for third.
Abby Syverson competed in the 200-meter coming in with a time of 27.19 to place 28th.
Syverson then competed on Friday at Bryan Clay in the 800-meter coming in with a time of 2:21.61 to place 132nd.
Doss also competed on Friday at Bryan Clay in the discus hitting a mark of 124-9 to come in 33rd.
On Saturday at the Saint Mary's Invitational in Winona, the Beavers had a solid all-around day. Alaina Hall won the 100-meter with a time of 12.25. Olivia Olson added a time of 13.06 to come in third and Abbie Disbrow came in fifth with a time of 13.36. For Disbrow, it was her first time running the event at the collegiate level.
Disbrow then turned around and won the triple jump reaching a distance of 32-11.00.
The 4x100 relay team of Olson, Hall, Disbrow and Lily Johnson came in first with a time of 50.12.
Josie Aitken added a top-three finish coming in third with a time of 1:01.51 in the 400-meter.
Johnson came in fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.63 which was just off a PR.
Maggie McCarthy placed eighth in the 800-meter with a time of 2:34.70, while Carol Miller crossed with a time of 2:37.72 to place 11th. Miller was just off her PR time.
Miller paced the Beavers in the 1,500-meter coming in second with a time of 5:10.41. McCarthy was the next one in for BSU placing fourth with a time of 5:14.24. It was a new personal-best for McCarthy.
Callie Ressler came in fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 13:43.97.
Alyssa Hill led four Beavers in the discus with a throw of 110-04 to come in 10th. Cassidy Schmidt added a throw of 102-00 to come in 18th. Alexis Gehrig was right behind in 19th hitting a mark of 101-02. Zayda Priebe rounded out the results for the Beavers in 24th with a throw of 93-00. It was a new PR for Schmidt, Gehrig and Priebe.
Mikenna Pattrin led the Beavers in the hammer coming in fifth with a throw of 140-02. Gehrig and Schmidt also competed in the hammer with Gehrig coming in 11th with a throw of 115-09 and Schmidt placed 22nd with a throw of 92-05. It was a new PR for Pattrin.
Pattrin also paced the Beavers in the javelin hitting a distance of 101-03 to come in sixth. Gehrig had a throw of 75-02 to place 17th. Johnson came in 19th with a throw of 73-08, while Amanda Smith was right behind in 20th with a throw of 70-10. It was a new personal-best for Johnson, while Smith competed in the event for the first time at the collegiate level.
Olson and Anastasia Klein placed third and fourth in the pole vault. Olson cleared 10-00 to placed third, while Klein cleared 9-06.25 to come in fourth.
Priebe, Hill and Schmidt all entered in the shot put. Priebe placed seventh with a throw of 34-09.75. Hill came in 10th hitting a mark of 33-03.00. Schmidt came in 25th with a throw of 31-01.00. It was a new PR for Schmidt.
Following the busy past week, Bemidji State will travel to St. Paul this coming Saturday (Apr. 22) to compete in the Holst Invitational hosted by Concordia-St. Paul.
