MINOT, N.D. – The Bemidji State University Cross Country team closed out the season with a ninth-place finish at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Cross Country Championships Saturday afternoon.
Maggie McCarthy finished the race in 25
th place, marking a time of 22:11.9 and falling just five spots short of an All-NSIC Second Team nod. Her final time knocked time off her personal best, setting a new one to close out the season. Behind McCarthy, grabbing the 57
th spot, was
Carol Miller finishing at the 23:05.3 mark. Miller also set a personal record in the 6K with this finish.
Nadia Vaughn kept close behind Miller, finishing just 10.8 second after her and grabbing the 64
th spot. This 23:16.1 finish marked the third personal best of the day for the Beavers, shaving around eight seconds off her previous best set at the 2022 NCAA Central Regionals.
Finishing in the Top 100 for the Beavers,
Sophie Rylance finished 89
th with 23:53.4 on the clock.
Carmen Lyon ended in 94
th with a time of 24:02.6 and
Abigail Namukwaya ended just two spots and 2.1 seconds later for a 96
th place finish. Rylance, Lyon and Namukwaya all grabbed personal records, moving the number of personal records broken this afternoon to six.
Rounding out the Beaver lineup,
Ava Werner marked a 25:06.9 finish and ended in 111
th position.
Sydnie Price grabbed 129
th at the 26:20.6 mark and
Callie Ressler finished everything out at 137
th at the 27:18.3 mark. Werner and Price's times added two more finishes to the Beavers personal records broken, moving the needle to eight personal records.
