Cross Country lands four in top 50 at Toni St. Pierre Invite

Beavers open 2024 season with one in top 25 and four in top 50 at first invite of the season

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Cross Country program earned four Top 50 finishes at the Toni St. Pierre Invitational in St. Cloud, Minn. Friday evening. Carol Miller led the charge, landing in 24th place.
 
Carol Miller's 24th place finish came with a time of 20:03.8. Behind Miller by under 24 seconds, Abigail Namukwaya took 37th, in her first collegiate race, with a final time of 20:27.3. Carmen Lyon and Sophie Rylance ended the race in 43rd and 44th with times of 20:41.3 and 20:44.6, respectively, rounding out the four top 50 finishes. Adding 41 points to the Beavers' team total, Sydnie Price finished at 63rd with a time of 22:11.9. The final runner for the Beavers, Ava Werner, landed in 85th with a final time of 23:18.9.
 
On the team front, the University of Wisconsin-Stout earned the first-place finish with 26 points. Host team, College of St. Benedict, came in second with 61 points followed by Bethel University in third with 69 points. Fellow Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference members, St. Cloud State University, grabbed the fourth spot in the lineup with 81 points. Rounding out the top five, University of Wisconsin-Superior finished with 127 points in fifth place.
 
The Beavers now prepare to head to Moorhead, Minn. to race at Nemzek Stadium in the Dragon Twilight, hosted by Minnesota State University Moorhead. The 5,000-meter race begins at 7:30 p.m. and live results are available on the BSU Cross Country website.
