Joan Hance was a four-sport athlete while at BSU in field hockey, volleyball, track & field and gymnastics (was the first and only female gymnast in 1967 and practiced with the men's team); started girls' volleyball, basketball and track & field teams at Clearbrook High School; member of MN Division of Girl's and Women's Sports Gymnastics Committee, '72-'74; Secretary of District 30 Coaches Assn. '73; District 29 and Region 7AA rep. to the delegate assembly of the MN State High School Coaches Assn.; National Federation Volleyball Official; MDGWS Gymnastics Judge; MSHSL volleyball rules interpreter; volleyball and gymnastics coach; member of the seeding committee for the MSHSL State High School gymnastics and track & field meets; MN State High School Volleyball Tournament supervisor, scorekeeper and line judge; MSHSL State High School Gymnastics Meet student personnel manager; MSHSL High School Tennis Tournament site manager; MSHSL State High School Track & Field Meet finish line recorder and head finish judge; physical education and health teacher at St. Francis High School.
