Susan Alstrom was a member of BSU field hockey 1972-75; Team Captain, All-Conference 1973, '74, 75; North Central All-Star '73, '74; Midwest Select '73, '74; All-Conference and State Champion Teams '72-'75; National Team Member '75; Member BSU Women's Basketball Team 1973-1976; All Conference '74, '75, Conference Champions '75; Member BSU Women's Track and Field Team 1973-1975; State Champion in Shot '73, '74; Indoor and Outdoor Conference Champion in Shot; State Discus Champion '73, '74, '75; Outdoor Conference Champion; Javelin State Champion '74; Mile Relay State Champion '73; Member of '73, '74 State Championship and '73, '75 Conference Championship Teams; President Elect and President of MN State Girls' Assn.; High School Volleyball Coach with a 290-140 record; Minnesota State, District and Conference Volleyball Coach of the Year Award Winner; Coach of High School District and Conference Championship Teams 1989-1995; High School Softball Coach; Conference Champions 1989, '90, '92; Went to Nationals in both fast and slow pitch softball; Coached Track and Field to Conference Champions 1977, '78, 79; National Handball Champion 1989, '90; Silver Medalist at Sport Festival in 1989 in Oklahoma; Gold Medalist in Minneapolis in 1990; Member AAU for 15 years; Played ice hockey in Russia in 1993; Ran in and completed 14 marathons; Finished 1st and 2nd three times in Minnesota Border to Border (500 mile triathlon); Climbed two of Seven Summits at Mt. Ed. in Africa; Performed tandem skydiving; Site manager for International Special Olympics; Very active in numerous community, state and national sports and human service organizations; Member of the Bemidji State University Foundation.
