William Wirtanen was a multi sport athlete while at BSU, he lettered in Basketball and Track, 1955-1956. Was named Basketball Captain, in 1956. After his time at BSU he became a J.C. coach, his coaching Record; Basketball 160-106. His team was the Division Champions, in 1970, 1974, 1975, 1978, 1979. He was also coach of Tennis and his record was 61-20. Division and Regional Champions. Director of NJCAA Region XIII. U.S. Collegiate Sports Council Member. Governing Council U.S. Wrestling Federation.
