Before Ken began his college career at Bemidji State University, he served two years in the United States Army Air Corps from 1943-1945.  After completing his service, Ken attended BSU majoring in physical education and social studies, graduating in1950.  While a student at the university, Ken was a four year letter winner for men's basketball.  As a Beaver, Ken was named an All-Conference selection in 1948, 1949, and 1950.  Aside from his stellar basketball career, Ken also participated in football until a clip from behind put him out for the season and ended his shift in college football.  Following his college career Ken became a teacher and a coach.  He began head coaching at Hallock high school where he brought the school recognition by garnering conference championship titles for baseball, football and a second place finish for basketball from 1950 to 1951.  Following his two years at Hallock, Ken took a position at Blackduck High School, where he spent the remainder of his professional career.  With Ken as head coach, the Blackduck boy's basketball team harvested conference championships from 1953-1955 then again from 1958-1961.  Ken also served as head track coach for one year and had two state qualifiers.  In 1962, Ken took over as the Athletic Director for Blackduck, a position he held until 1970.  In Addition to his already accomplished professional career, Ken was the Chairman of District 29 Conference Committee and a Member of the All-State Selection Committee.  Ken and his wife, Marion '52 & '71, live in Bemidji and have three grown children, Mark, Kent and Suzy, and three grandchildren.
